I am pleased to endorse Joseph Andreo to be Scout Executive of the Northeastern Pennsylvania Council, BSA. Joe started his career with the Boy Scouts working with me in the development department of Connecticut Yankee Council in 2014 after a successful career in finance.

I was immediately impressed with Joe’s determination and grit as he took the special event assignments he received and brought them to successful completion, exceeding goals and meeting timelines. As just one example, Joe had a goal to raise $$ in a district community campaign that had very little history. He assembled a team of volunteers who came up with the idea of a Game Dinner at our camp. A committee was formed with each volunteer having detailed assignments. Joe led the team in bringing this event from concept to successful execution in every facet of the event from the menu to raffles and auction. The district went from a few hundred dollars in their community to over $6,000 overnight.

Joe’s success in fundraising from small to large special events and direct asks is due to his professional growth and determination developed outside of Scouting. He takes the management skills he learned prior to being a professional Scouter and applies it in a volunteer setting. He uses these skills to get buy-in to new ideas.

While Joe worked for me in our development department in Connecticut, I consider him a mentor and someone I can call to bounce ideas off of and get honest, practical feedback.

It is without any hesitation that I recommend Joe for the position of Scout Executive. Our movement and Northeastern Pennsylvania Council will be better for his leadership.
