Scout Executive Selection Committee,
I have worked with Joe for many years as a volunteer of the BSA. In every role that he has held he has performed with excellence. He has been successful at building teams within the volunteers and professionals. Joe has also excelled at fundraising and would excel as a Scout Executive.
I first worked with Joe when I was a district commissioner and he served as our district interim executive. Joe helped me with a unit in Bridgeport that was having adult volunteer issues. We were able to work together to resolve the issues and the unit was able to thrive from that point on.
While Joe was in charge of development for the council, he helped me plan several fundraisers for our district. He was able to secure us free products for these fundraisers to allow us to raise even more money from the event. He also ran all of the leadership events for our council for several years and was able to secure very good and high level keynote speakers including John Ratsenberger and Darrel Strawberry. He built teams to secure attendees and help plan these events. Through his efforts he was able to raise tens of thousands of dollars for our council every year he was in the role.
Since taking over as assistant scout executive, I have worked with him in a varity of projects. We worked together to plan some major events including our Tri-camp tournament which had nearly 1000 participants and our tri-annual ConnJam event. We also worked together developing the membership plans and coming up with goals and responsibilities for both the professional staff and volunteers. This planning resulted in our council having over 10% membership growth last year.
Having worked with Joe for many years he has shown that he is a capable and dedicated leader. Joe has proven that he can build and lead teams, raise money and develop relationships. He has been a huge asset to our council While it will be a big loss to our council, I know he will be successful in the Scout Executive role.
