One of the greatest pleasures of scouting is seeing one of your own peers grow into an outstanding Scout Leader. As a Scout Leader, District Member, and Council Commissioner, I also have the gratification of observing the success of great leadership. Joseph Andreo is one of these fine individuals.
Joe has been an Adult Leader with Connecticut Yankee Council for several years working his way up the responsibility ladder to the position of Assistant Scout Executive. The first time I met Joe, was at the district meeting. I had the pleasure of observing Joe with great enthusiasm, helping new scouters be successful in their journey of becoming a leader.
Over the years, I continue to have the pleasure of working with Joe at various level of scouting. Whether on local, District Level or at Council Level Committees, he is always there to help, encourage and guide. Joe is a true example of a dedicated leader and Scouter. He is always willing to go above and beyond the call, especially when it benefits the Scouts or Scouters. During my tenure as Commissioner, Joe has focused on working with camp committees to develop a plan to improve our various council camps and has followed through with these plans making vast improvements. Personally, he has been a great resource in helping me solve unit or district issues that have arisen. One of his favorite special projects is spearheading the Council Game Dinner fundraiser, which sells out every year.
While Joe possesses an extensive knowledge of Scouting, he is always looking to learn new terminologies, philosophies, and techniques to improve his personal awareness of Scouting. What I admire the most about Joe is his love for the scouting movement, the dedication, and the time he devotes to scouting. Joe also possesses and demonstrates those qualities and characteristics of a strong leader. He is very patient and understanding when working with youth and adult members of scouting, but he is also very demanding and puts forth all his effort and energy into organizing successful scouting activities and encourages other members to do the same.
Joseph Andreo has proven to be a fine scouter, and a self-motivated, creative, and conscientious leader who welcomes challenges both in and out of the Scouting. I am confident that Joe will continue to promote scouting and all its activities, allowing scouts the opportunity to experience scouting to its fullest. Therefore, I strongly recommend him as a candidate for position of Scout Executive in your council.
