Dear Scout Executive Selection Committee

Dear Scout Executive Selection Committee,

Thank you for your service to Scouting and for affording me the opportunity to serve as the next Scout Executive of the Housatonic Council. My family and I are thrilled to be considered for this honor, and I look forward to engaging with you throughout your selection process.

For more than 45-years Scouting has shaped and defined my life. I have tried to live my life guided by the Scout Oath and Law. My experience in both the for-profit and not-for-profit industries have given me a unique skill set of leadership, relationship management, process management, and project management skills. I have read through the materials that were sent to me about the Council with great anticipation. I believe there is a great base and tradition in your Council that we can build on to grow membership, finance, and program, back to historical levels. I am ready for the challenge and look forward to meeting with everyone.

As you review this website, designed to highlight the experiences and accomplishments of the volunteer and staff teams I have had the privilege to serve, I hope it will provide additional insight into who I am and what we can accomplish together.

Again, thank you for this great opportunity, I am humbled to be considered.

Yours In Scouting,
Joe

My name is Joseph Andreo and I am the Assistant Scout Executive for the Connecticut Yankee Council. Prior to my current position, I had very successful terms as Director of Support Services and Director of Development/ CFO. I have managed and led all aspects of the Connecticut Yankee Council during my tenure.

I began my career as a Financial Services professional in 1989 and held several positions as Supervisor, Manager, Vice President, Broker and Relationship Manager over a 23-year career in finance.

In 2012, I decided to leave finance and worked as a Project Manager for Gemstar Construction Corporation, fulfilling a life-long desire to build something!  I managed several commercial projects over a two-year period before deciding to join the not-for-profit world with the Boy Scouts of America.

As a youth, I was a Brotherhood Member of the OA and spent two years helping to build and run an Explorer Post.  I received my Eagle Scout Award in 1983 in Staten Island, NY. I am Wood Badge trained (Beaver) and earned my third bead as a staffer and staff advisor. I received Vigil Honor from the Order of the Arrow in 2020.
